Five Passion Killers

Holy guacamole!

The section on passion killers, in the book The Hope Quotient, is something everyone who’s ever tried doing something out of the “norm” (whatever the heck “norm” is) has got to fill their melon with.  If you’ve ever pushed past vulnerabilities, tried something new, and then had the wind knocked out of your sails it was likely from one of the following passion killers.

PASSION KILLERS AND HOW TO ARM YOURSELF AGAINST THEM:

  1. UNHEALTHY PEOPLE
Emotionally unhealthy people are those who drain you. They’re the ones you have to recover from after you’ve been around them. It’s likely unrealistic to avoid these people altogether but you can focus on primarily building relationships with those who build you up.

  2. UNKIND CRITICS
Feedback and advice can be beneficial but there are boatloads of unkind critics out there who don’t have your best interest or destiny in mind. Don’t fill your mind with unkind words and opinions from those who don’t share your vision.

  3. UNBALANCED SCHEDULES
Don’t burn the candle at both ends or you won’t have the wherewithal to emotionally or physically handle what life throws your way. Even if you LOVE what you do, ya still have to find ways to decompress.

  4. UNNECESSARY GUILT
You can’t feel passion, enthusiasm, and guilt at the same time. Guilt will shackle you to regret, forcing you to look backwards rather than looking forward to the possibilities that lie ahead.

  5. UNDERESTIMATING THE IMPACT OF EXPOSURE
Your MIND will think most about whatever you fill it with and expose it to. What you listen to, watch, read, etc will impact your activity, character, and destiny.

There are lots of passion killers that can swarm around you, whether it be your situation, what you tell yourself, or the negative influences of others. If you fill your mind with the “good stuff” you’ll have a better chance of emotionally handling adversity and keep doing the right activity that leads to where you want to go.

Basically, when something or someone takes the wind out of your sails and you’re knocked on your a$% you’ll keep on keepin’ on!
